Biographical history

Nato a Upham, Hampshire il 3 lug. 1683, morto a Welwyn, Hertfordshire il 5 aprile 1765. Poeta inglese, cappellano del re e rettore di Welwyn. Compose tragedie e satire. Celebre per la sua opera "Complaint, or night thoughts on life, death and immortality (1742-45)", tradotta in tutta Europa.
